Electro Wave
eigentlich
Techno Wave (mit Aufkommen des
Techno House in den frühen 90ern modifiziert); ursprünglich in Deutschland verbreitete Bezeichnung für Interpreten aus dem
New Wave-Umfeld, welche ihre Songs auf rein synthetischer Basis vertonten (z.B. John Foxx, Gary Numan,
The Human League).
Später dann als eigenständiger Stil herauskristallisiert und vorwiegend für deutsche Projekte verwendet, die ab ca. 1985 New Wave-typische Sounds vermehrt mit harten elektronischen Klangelementen verbanden und diese Melange bis in die frühen 90er Jahre - teilweise unter Einfluss der Electronic Body Music - gekonnt umsetzten.
Im Gegensatz zur reinen EBM waren für Electro Wave hauptsächlich Vielfalt, Melodiösität und Verspieltheit kennzeichnend.
